Web Tools that I Have Used
|
www.Prezi.comPrezi is a new interactive way to give and create presentations that can be used both online and offline. It is an attractive alternative to a powerpoint. The backgrounds are engaging and colorful and the information is presented in an eye catching way. Reader can chose to click around the presentation to find information or the presentation can be set on a linear path for presenting and viewing. I used this to give my class instruction. I found it very useful and that the students found it an exciting alternative to overhead note sheets. This is a thematic Prezi I used to introduce myself to my students. |
I have also used this as a project tool. Students were allowed to use a Prezi or a paper format and were given a specific rubric with requirements. Those who chose to do Prezi were most often successful and did a very good job! I think it is a great way to incorperate technology into the classroom.
www.Voicethread.com Another Web tool I have used is Voicethread this is site where you can voice over videos and slideshows to make a subject really come to life. Users make the visual aspect then add the voice over. What is unique for this tool is that viewers are then able to leave comments in either audio or text form.
This is a project I did for my Young Adult Literature Class. It is a reading autobiography paper read over slides that represent the words I am speaking. This gives the viewer both an auditory and visual aid with which to better comprehend the message. This too would make a great project medium. This would be a perfect setting to encourage peer review and feedback. I plan to use it in my future classes for just that! |
